With 20+ hours of sunlight and abundant beauty at every turn, Alaska in June is a true midsummer night’s dream.
For as long as I can remember, Alaska has been at the top of my bucket list, but somehow I never made the trip happen. In typical BrownGirlsFly fashion, my call-to-action was an irresistible flight deal to Anchorage. When I booked my flights, I was hyper-focused on how the dates would fit into my increasingly packed schedule, and I didn’t realize until a few weeks before leaving that I would be in America’s northern most state just before the summer solstice. I was super excited abut the extra sunlight and Alaska did not disappoint. Even though my trip lasted only 72 hours, the longer days made it easy to pack in a lot of fun! Here are some of my favorite moments from the trip.

When Crystal and I travel, we love to create “urban with a side of nature” experiences, spending most of our time in the cosmopolitan culture of a big city with a bit of respite in neighboring natural landscapes. This trip to Anchorage, I’d classify as the opposite — “nature with a side of urban” — and I loved every minute of it. Seventy-two hours was not long enough to take it all in. I’m already planning my next trip there!
